How to Get Over Your Anxiety While Studying For a Test
As a professional private tutor I've been helping students of all ages get ready for tests for years now.
Anxiety is a factor that sometimes cripples a student's performance for no good reason at all. Exam anxiety is largely a figment of one's imagination yet real in its effects.
Here is my Number One recommendation to all students who'd like to get test anxiety under control:
Prepare, prepare, and then prepare some more again.
If you devote enough time to preparing for the test, repeat that aloud as a positive affirmation.
Repeat to yourself: "I've devoted a lot of time preparing for this test; therefore I know I have a high chance of being successful."
No matter which study program you are following, complete all the recommended homework and preparatory quizzes. If necessary, study some more and try them again. The idea is to convince yourself that you've done all you can to get ready for the test.
The anxiety is usually due to our wonderful inner voice which knows and tell us that we are not ready yet. A thorough preparation removes that factor from our inner space.
When you're convinced you are doing very well at the preparatory homework phase, repeat to yourself: "I'm doing very well with these homework assignments and doing well on the preparatory quizzes as well. Therefore I think I'll do pretty well at the real exam as well. There's no reason why I should not do well at the test."
The day before the exam don't do anything that would get you very tired for the next day. Do not run a marathon the day before, for example.
The night before, get a full 8 hours of sleep. Go to bed early to get up early on the morning of the exam.
On the morning of the exam, eat a good fresh breakfast high in protein and vitamins. BUT stay away from salty greasy spicy fried stuff. Make sure you visit the rest room before entering the test room.
Anxiety in life is a totally normal reaction in certain situations. But as a well-prepared and well-rested student, you should be able to have a comfortable handle on it.

Games in the Math Classroom - Honest Educational Benefits Revealed
Common criticisms of using games in math classroom sound like, "I want my child to learn academics," "If I wanted them to play games, I would keep them at home," "I am not paying tax dollars (or tuition) to have my child play games all day," and the ever popular, "I learned math just fine without all this stuff, there is nothing wrong with old fashioned drill, drill drill." The reality is you will end up with more drill time when playing a game, all accomplished in a positive success driven atmosphere that will keep the students engaged and work on integrating skills with higher level thinking skills.
Simple drill works well for memorizing facts for many students. For some their learning styles are such that drill alone is not enough. With time and enough drill, practice and exposure these fact are learned. Any good math teacher will use a variety of strategies to help with memorizing facts. Manipulating blocks, writing facts down, singing facts to music are alternative ways to use. Playing games in the math classroom is an amazing way to get multiple repetitions of facts; a child will happily read the same fact ten times when playing a game, yet groan when a flash drill card appears even a second time.
Basic drills do not teach application of math facts. There is a good chance those same people who learned facts perfectly fine the old fashioned way, also despised the dreaded "story problems." Fortunately today most math programs integrate the "story problem" immediately into the fact drills taking the words story problem out of the picture. Games are a perfect way to provide even more practice applying the basic skills in real life situations. A board game might include a space to land on where an additional math question needs solved; a card game could be designed around gathering enough data to solve a particular problem.
Math is such an important life skill, it is important not to make that class a dreaded, stressful, or boring experience. Games in the math classroom designed to reinforce skills and drill in a challenging yet interesting and fun environment will help keep the student engaged in a positive way and motivated to keep on learning. Printable math games designed for one or two people can help build self motivation and even be sent home to download and play in a fun atmosphere while reinforcing crucial skills.
Incorporating games into a rich overall healthy integrated curriculum is a valid way to provide educational benefit to all students and is only a waste of time when the skills are not relevant, the game is silly, or if over done. With technology available today, teachers are building a library of digital, downloadable activities that make providing challenging but fun math games for the math classroom easier to do. Everyone, the student, the teacher and the parent will experience the educational benefit of having a variety of fun math games.

Tutor Online to Earn $50 to $100 Per Hour
Tutoring online is not new to the web. However it has become easier with new online messaging systems and hardware for communication. In this article, I will show you how to set up your computer and become familiar with the messaging systems like Skype and two others, Edu 2.0 and Vyew, where you can teach online classes.
Tutoring Online Requires Some Computer Knowledge
How to Use the Webcam
Tutoring online requires computer knowledge. In short, you must learn the specifics of using the webcam and how to teach using a webcam.
When you buy a webcam, the directions will be provided. It isn't difficult. When you begin using the webcam, you must look directly into the video and speak clearly while limiting your expressions to your face and upper body. I practiced this with my husband before doing it with a student. Since the webcam sits on the top of your computer, it has to be adjusted according to your height. I suggest you use a webcam with a built in audio because it's easier. However, if you choose a separate audio you will wear a headset with a microphone attached that you will speak into. When you buy the webcam it is best to buy the headset as a bundle so that you know they work well together. However, if you buy the webcam with the built in audio then you know it works together.
The beauty of using the webcam is that you can do it almost anywhere. You can do it in a coffee shop from your own laptop computer, with an online connection and a microphone and small video camera.
The next section highlights some of the low priced webcams that are very good and easy to use.
Logitec Webcam 250

Another webcam that is a little higher priced is good too.

The FV TouchCam N1 does high definition video at 720p and is compatible with any version of Windows from XP and on up. It has high speed and a USB 2.0 to connect to the computer.
